What is BODgroups? If you’ve landed on this page, you’re likely looking for more community and accountability. We all need accountability, and all the help we can get with our health and fitness goals.

Guess why famously 13 out of the 14 contestants from the last season of the TV show, The Biggest Loser, gained all of their weight back and more? Yup, lack of accountability.

Incidentally, the one contestant who did not gain her weight back was a BODi partner (aka Beachbody coach) who was likely part of this online accountability and support system.

In this post, we’ll cover common BODi groups FAQs and help you get plugged into a BODgroup.

First, Beachbody did a huge rebrand in 2023. Beachbody and Beachbody On Demand are now called BODi and Team Beachbody Coaches are now referred to as BODi Partners.

Other than the names, nothing has really changed. Because everyone is confused (and I want to help everyone) I still use both names interchangeably in this article.

To clear up any questions and learn about all the changes, check out our up to date BODi review

What is BODgroups?

BODgroups are Beachbody’s virtual fitness accountability groups, run by individual coaches.

Yes, if you have a BODi membership, you have a coach!

To start, for those of you unfamiliar, Beachbody offers a fitness streaming service, Netflix-style. For $15 a month, people with a billing address in the US, UK, Canada, and France have access to hundreds of workout programs such as the latest Barre Blend to classics like P90X, Insanity, and 21 Day Fix.

The fitness celebrities themselves teach these programs (Tony Horton is our favorite!), but as we mentioned above, BODgroups are run by coaches. It’s a group where you can post your workouts for accountability, and reach out with questions for support.

When you sign up with BODi, you’re assigned a free BODi partner or coach. This coach is someone like you, doing the Beachbody programs and working alongside you on their health journey.

Team Beachbody Coaches don’t have to be certified, as it’s a name given to anyone representing the BODi products.

That means, it can be kind of a grab bag. Some coaches work full-time in health and fitness (like we do). Other coaches may not work it and may never reach out to support you.

This is a critical distinction because to have access to a BODgroup your coach must need to run one.

The good news is, if your coach isn’t running one, you can join ours here.

Every Beachbody or BODi customer has a coach or a “partner.” You’re paying for it, so make sure you find a good one.

If you request us to be your coaches you get a two-for-one deal. Here’s how we work.

We never contact you with anything promotional and always respond thoughtfully to your questions through email or our BODgroup.

Since we have been following Beachbody programs (all of them) since 2008 and drinking Shakeology since 2014, we have a lot of experience.

Additionally, we have helped over 15,000 customers, and, according to Google, in 2021 alone our helpful Beachbody articles were read by 130,254 readers.

Lastly, since Beachbody coaching is only a small portion of our business (our lifestyle website for couples) our advice is less biased and we often share tools outside the Beachbody umbrella.

Why is BODgroups worth it?

If you’ve tried the Beachbody workouts, you probably already know that the structured programs, expert instruction, modifications, workout calendars, and accompanying meal plans yield great results.

It’s no secret that we are firm believers in BODi workout programs. And that belief is backed by data, which we explain in our BODi review.

BODi is worth it, but is BODgroups?

In addition to The Biggest Loser stat above, let’s look at some more data on accountability. According to research, incentives and accountability are the two factors that effectively shape behavior change.

Focusing on accountability, the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) found that you’re 65% more likely to succeed at achieving a goal when you have an accountability partner.

However, that number bumps up to 95% if you have ongoing appointments with your accountability partner or group. In our experience as coaches, individuals who post their accountability in the group daily are at least 95% more successful.

We hope you start posting regularly in a BOD group soon. Now let’s dive into a few of our most frequently asked questions about BODgroups.

bodgroups faqs

1. Why should I join a BODgroup?

One of the many benefits of exercising with your partner, or in a group, is that it doubles your performance. Plus it makes you both 3X more likely to stick with a program long-term.

For this reason, take advantage of BODi groups, which is free and accessible to all (even including non-Beachbody customers). Even though it’s a virtual group, increased accountability means better results.

Join a community of like-minded people tracking their workouts, diet, and moving towards their nutrition goals, together.

2. Are BODgroups free?

Yes! All you need is a subscription or free BODi account (through this link, you’ll automatically be added to our team for free).

A free Beachbody account will give you access to the Clean Week program and 27 free Beachbody sample workouts.

A membership to BODi unlocks all of the workout programs to you, in addition to a few nutrition programs.

A free Beachbody account does require a US, UK, Canadian, or France address. With that said, it doesn’t check. So, if you’re in another country, just pick one. Your account will be created, and you’ll have full access to BODgroups.

3. What can you do in a BODgroup?

In BODgroups, you can sync your workouts so that when you stream a Beachbody On Demand program, it automatically tracks in your BODi group. This is great to see how often you’re getting your workouts in!

Additionally, you can track Shakeology, share photos of your workouts or meals, track your water intake, and comment and encourage the other members of your team!

What we love is that it’s now easy and fully integrated with our workouts. It’s easier than ever to have our workouts tracked, by week and by month.

4. How do I access BODgroups?

You can access BODi groups on either your laptop or mobile device.

On your phone, make sure that you have the BODi app (free) and that it’s updated.

If it’s your first time opening the app in a while, a pop-up will appear, asking you to explore BODgroups. After that, you’ll see a “Groups” option at the bottom of your home screen in the app.

Once on your group page, you’ll be able to see if you’re in any active groups, like ours, the ‘Duo Life Fitness Family.’

If not, your current coach’s name will pop up, and you can request a group. A pre-written email will be sent alerting your coach that you’re interested in joining a group.

On your laptop, log in and head to the BODi groups page (you’ll see a link right at the top of the page for BODgroups).

On that screen, you’ll be able to see the active groups you’re in (automatically migrated from the Challenge Tracker app). If there are no groups for you, you can contact your coach to join a group.

Or again, you can join our BODgroup instead.

5. Can you create multiple profiles for one BODi account for BODgroups?

A common question amongst our team, the straightforward answer is “no.” Each BODi account and email address share the same access to BODgroups. With that said, you have three options.

First, to create a separate user profile, follow the above steps to create a free Beachbody account.

Then, you can log your workouts separately (albeit manually), but it’s easier to track your stats.

Second, simply track in the same group under the same account. You can add your name and a photo to differentiate yourself from your family member or roommate.

The downside to this is that the total workouts tracked will reflect everyone’s on the accounts.

Third, you can join multiple BODgroups accounts under one account. This will make it easier to track your personal stats.

However, whenever you can, we recommend logging in the same group as your partner or family member, so that you can reap the benefits of working out as a couple in all aspects.

6. I want to join your BODgroup and I don’t have a coach I actively work with. Can I join your team and group?

We’d love to have you on our team. Ryan has been a Beachbody coach since 2013, and I’ve been a coach since 2017. We have worked full-time as coaches since 2018 and have an active community for you to join.

To join our team, fill in this form using our Coach ID (335656), name (Alexandra Davis), or email address (hello@ryanandalex.com).

After, click here to join our BODgroup. Don’t forget to invite your friends! Also, if you’ve read other articles on our website or started receiving our weekly newsletters, you’ve probably noticed that our business is focused on couples.

While that’s true, it’s definitely not a requirement for our BODgroup. We welcome all!

7. I want to join your BODgroup but don’t want to leave my coach. Can I still join someone’s BODgroup but keep my coach?

Yes! You can be part of a BODgroup run by someone other than your coach. We’re happy that you’ve found yourself a supportive coach who helps you through your fitness and wellness journey.

8. What happened to the former Challenge Tracker app?

As of April 26, 2020, the former Challenge Tracker app by Beachbody is obsolete. You can delete it from your phone! If you were part of an active group, that has automatically transferred to a BODgroup on the Beachbody On Demand app.

9. Can I invite a friend to the group?

Yes, simply reach out to the coach managing your group, share your friend’s name and email address, and they’ll send an invite.

10. Can I access BODi groups abroad?

Yes! Ryan and I have lived in nine different countries and we’ve always had access to Beachbody on Demand app.

While BODgroups is new since April 26, 2020, we manage our group just fine from where we are in Colombia.

11. Where can I sign up for BODi?

You can sign up for BODi here.

Or, sign up for a free BODi trial today for unlimited two-week access to all BODi programs. It’s free, although you do need to provide credit card information.

Or, you can create a free account for limited access to the free BODi sample workouts.

Through the links above, you’ll join our team. Once signed up, we’ll get you plugged into our BODgroup and offer personalized support so that you can meet your health goals.

We’re all in this together. Pets included!
