Shakeology is designed as a healthy meal or snack replacement delivering nutrients from top quality superfoods from around the world.

Outside of the 9 essential amino acids and complete protein, you also ingest an array of macronutrients, micronutrients, antioxidants, prebiotics, probiotics, and digestive enzymes in one convenient package.

We enjoy the health benefits of drinking Shakeology, but it’s the taste that keeps us coming back for more. We hope this article with delicious Shakeology recipes helps enjoy your health shake even more.

Our Shakeology Flavor Recommendations

We’ve been drinking Shakeology since 2014. After trying multiple bags of all the flavors over the years, we enjoy vegan Chocolate and vegan Vanilla Shakeology most.

In general, Vanilla Shakeology and Chocolate Shakeology are our favorites because they are most versatile.

For example, unlike Strawberry and Café Latte Shakeology, you can add spinach or carrot greens to Vanilla and Chocolate Shakeology without even tasting it.

Also, we buy the vegan flavors. It’s not that the regular flavors based on whey protein are bad. Instead, we prefer the taste and the vegan powder mixes better (no chunks) with water in a shaker cup.

Since we are on the go often, we are making shakes without a blender 50% of the time.

Tips for the best Shakeology Experience

As long as you love your Shakeology shake, there is no right and wrong way to make them, no matter the flavor.

However, if you’re not happy with the flavor, don’t abandon ship yet. First, follow these guidelines to make sure your recipes for Shakeology turn out perfectly.

1. Add enough liquid

As you’ll see in our Shakeology recipes, we always recommend 2 cups. This is extremely important. It will be too thick and powerfully flavored if you use less.

If your blender isn’t large enough, you should buy a new one (we love this refurbished model). Remember, 2 cups or 16 ounces of liquid and you’re golden.

2. Ice makes a big difference

In all of our recipes with Shakeology, we recommend 8 cubes (less if your adding other frozen ingredients). If they are small cubes, you might need 12. Ice adds to the flavor and further dilutes the Shakeology powder.

Ice also thickens the shake. We know that the consistency of our Shakeology shake is right if pencil eraser sized bubbles rise to the surface after you power down the blender.

3. When in doubt, more banana

In our Shakeology recipes for vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, we typically recommend 1/2 a medium banana.

But, feel free to use the whole banana. Banana changes the consistency and flavor of your Chocolate Shakeology smoothie for the better.

If your blender is getting full you can peel, cut, and freeze the bananas ahead of time and use them in place of ice. You’ll still get banana flavor, but the Shakeology shake recipes will be less creamy.

4. Water is good, milk is better

Water with Shakeology is still flavorful. However, if you make the Shakeology recipe with almond milk, flax milk, or cow’s milk it will be richer.

We recommend mixing half milk and half water. Stay away from coconut milk as it can create a weird consistency, almost like curdling.

5. Use a blender

We always prefer to make our Shakeology shakes in a blender. The blender allows you to follow the above recipes and we like variety.

However, when you are on the go, such as at the airport on business travel, mixing Chocolate Shakeology with water in a shaker cup is another great option.

Again, remember to mix it with at least 16 ounces of water (cold water is ideal) and shake well.

If you regularly mix Shakeology with water in a shaker cup, you should buy the vegan flavors. These formulas are more miscible with water than the regular flavor containing whey protein.

We love vegan chocolate, vanilla, and café latte with water or almond milk.

Best Chocolate Shakeology Recipes

One of our standby favorites, Chocolate Shakeology, is consistently delicious and one of the most versatile Shakeology flavors.

Vanilla Shakeology goes with coffee best, but we like it with chocolate too. We don’t add coffee to the café latte flavor because it already has a great coffee flavor.

If you choose to add coffee, we recommend 1 cup of coffee with 1 cup of almond milk. We still like the coffee version of this recipe with peanut butter, but blender’s choice.

Best Vanilla Shakeology Recipes

One of our steadfast go-to’s, Vanilla Shakeology, is consistently delicious and a blank canvas to blend up creative recipes. Such as mixtures with fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, and even Shakeology recipes with coffee.

Like Chocolate Shakeology, both regular and vegan Vanilla Shakeology flavors mask the taste of vegetables like spinach.

If we had to choose one flavor for the rest of our lives, it would be Vanilla Shakeology or Vegan Vanilla Shakeology (our preference). It’s so versatile there are tons of smoothie recipes opportunities.

These recipes are best with either Vegan (plant-based protein source) Vanilla Shakeology or regular (whey protein) Vanilla Shakeology.

11. The Perfect Pear Smoothie

Pears are an incredibly nutritious but often underrated fruit. High in antioxidants and fiber, pears are excellent in aiding digestion, and further research links them to reducing cholesterol and helping avoid diabetes.

They are a perfect addition in your vanilla shakeology smoothie.

Additionally, pears are full of phytonutrients, including anti-inflammatory and anti-aging flavonoids. Their impressive profile includes high levels of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and boron.

Collectively, they help improve bone and skin health. It gets even better because pears have some of the highest-fiber found in fruits and have been called the “natural constipation remedy.”

Great for improving your poop health. Always wash and eat the skin for more fiber.

Ingredients:

  • Pear (Bosc or Plymouth are best) with skin on
  • 8 ice cubes (about 1 cup)
  • About 2 cups water, almond milk, or a mix
  • 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp. freshly chopped ginger

12. The Mint Melon Magic Smoothie

One of our favorite ways to spice up our vanilla Shakeology smoothies is by adding herbs.

Mint imparts many health benefits as well as being known as a lucky plant in parts of Greece. Why not get healthy and fortunate at the same time!

Mint is incredibly relaxing and aids in digestion and upset stomachs. Outside of covering the “anti’s” – antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory – it fights aches and pains (including menstrual cramps).

Additionally, it is known to reduce swelling on the skin like acne and insect bites. On top of all of this, mint improves oral health so you may get lucky enough to get a kiss.

We love to pair mint with watermelon to amp up the refreshing taste. Watermelon soothes muscle soreness, rehydrates the body, improves circulation, and is a natural aphrodisiac.

What’s more, is it’s the highest alkalizing (or neutral) fruits known to humankind. Therefore, it can help balance any acidity in your body that comes from foods like meat or coffee.

You’ll love this vanilla Shakeology recipe with mint and watermelon!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of watermelon
  • 6-8 leaves of fresh mint
  • 1/2 cups greens (frozen or fresh) optional
  • 8 ice cubes (about 1 cup)
  • About 2 cups water, almond milk, or a mix
  • 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology

13. Carrot Cake Smoothie

Adding vegetables to our vanilla Shakeology smoothies is part of our daily routine. It’s the best opportunity for us to consume raw vegetables.

We love carrots because of the many health benefits they impart. We blend up the full carrot to get all the benefits of the fiber. This delicious “dessert” vanilla Shakeology recipe is highly enjoyable.

And, highly nutritious. Carrots are loaded with dietary fiber, Vitamins A (one large carrot is ~200 DV%!), Vitamin K, folate, manganese, and potassium.

With this stellar combo, carrots not only improve eyesight and skin with beta-carotene, but also is an immunity booster, can prevent heart disease, maintains digestive health, and regulates blood sugar levels.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium carrot
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 banana
  • 2 tbsp. chopped walnuts
  • 8 ice cubes (about 1 cup)
  • About 2 cups water, almond milk, or a mix
  • 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology

14. Basil Blueberry Smoothie

Herbs not only freshen up your vanilla Shakeology smoothie recipes but also imparts excellent health benefits.

Adding basil to your Shakeology smoothie may not be intuitive. Trust me. Our Basil Blueberry Smoothie tastes amazing and is packed with antioxidants and minerals to get you in tip-top shape.

Basil covers all the “anti’s:” anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant. Basil has been proven to bolster heart health while reducing free radicals.

Additionally, basil alleviates indigestion, detoxifies the liver, and promotes skin health. Finally, basil is a sign of good luck in Italy!

A well-known “superfood,” blueberries are high in antioxidants as well as fiber, potassium, folate, Vitamin C, and Vitamin B6. The absence of cholesterol and high amounts of fiber promote cardiovascular health and decrease risks of heart disease.

Similar to basil, blueberries reduce inflammation and support digestion, meaning this smoothie is a powerful punch of health.

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cups of blueberries (frozen or fresh)
  • 4-6 leaves fresh basil
  • 1 banana
  • 8 ice cubes (about 1 cup)
  • About 2 cups water, almond milk, or a mix
  • 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology

15. Beet Ginger Smoothie

Detox with this deliciously refreshing vanilla Shakeology smoothie jam-packed with antioxidants.

It is vegan and gluten-free. Perfect for a long weekend, hangover cure, or to boost your immune system before an upcoming vacation.

Beets are an immunity booster high in vitamin c, fiber, and minerals such as potassium (good for healthy nerve and muscle function) and manganese (excellent for bones, liver, kidneys, and pancreas). Beets also detoxify the body and controls cholesterol and blood pressure.

Ginger is an anti-inflammatory that also prevents muscle pain and soreness. Similar to beets, it is high in vitamin C, potassium, manganese, magnesium, and vitamin B6 and relays many of the same health benefits such as immunity-boosting.

Ginger is perfect for as a detoxifying ingredient because it settles the stomach and supports digestion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. fresh ginger (we clean and add unpeeled)
  • 2/3 cups of chopped beets (frozen or boiled beets)

The Benefits of Shakeology

You may have heard that your healthy lifestyle results are 80% based on nutrition. It’s true. There’s no better way to get all the nutrients and all colors of the rainbow each day than with Shakeology.

There’s a reason why we brought 8 bags (25 lbs.) with us when we moved to South America!

When you’re on-the-go as much as we are, you never know where your next meal is coming from. It makes us feel better knowing that at least one of our meals, with Shakeology, is taken care of.

1. Shakeology removes and ensures consistency in eating healthy.

You still need to eat healthy, whole foods. Each day, we focus on eating the quality, high nutrition foods that we should be eating.

We’re not perfect every day, and even if we were, Shakeology fills in the nutrient, mineral, and vitamin gaps.

2. Shakeology insures our immune system is strong and our energy is up.

Did you know that 97% of adults in the U.S. get enough protein and only 3% get enough fiber? Shakeology is not a protein shake. More often than not, we don’t need protein powder.

What we need more fiber and digestive enzymes to help our guts get us healthy on the inside. When that happens, you’ll see results on the outside.

3. Shakeology improves digestion and gut health.
