Review: BEACHBAR Snack Bars by Beachbody. Beachbody launched their first snack bar – a protein loaded treat that’s high fiber and low sugar. Ryan and I as major snackers wanted to investigate to see how the new Beachbody BEACHBAR stacked up to other favorites on the market.

Ryan and I have always been on the hunt for healthy snacks. When we have time, we’ll do the whole shebang and make our homemade hummus with fresh bell peppers. However, I’m usually packing my work lunch when I should have left the house five minutes ago!
When living in Texas and working corporate, this was the daily routine. Luckily, a few years ago, we came across Larabars, and that soon became our new, everyday favorite. We thought, “What could be better?” They only have five ingredients, all of which are whole foods like dates and almonds. They put our health-conscious brains at ease when packing our daily snack.
We even asked Larabar for free samples to pass out in our wedding guests’ hotel favor bags for some added PR (they said no…) But, it never hurt to ask!
This was all before the Beachbody BEACHBAR came out in 2018. Sorry Larabar, we’re through.

We tried out the two available Beachbody BEACHBAR flavors, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and Chocolate Cherry Almond. My first thoughts were, “Wow, these are decadent! Are they healthy enough?” They were both incredibly chocolatey with a nice half-half mix of crunchy and chewy. So, we decided to dig a little deeper and look into their nutrition.
Like our former favorite, Larabar, BEACHBARs by Beachbody are gluten-free and have no trans fat or artificial flavors. The ingredient list is longer than a Larabar’s but not by much. The main BEACHBAR ingredients include peanuts, cocoa whey crisps, prebiotic fiber from tapioca, chocolate, and pea protein. Below is a snapshot of the ingredients in the Beachbody BEACHBARs:

Moving on to the essential facts, how do BEACHBARs stack up with the nutrition? First off, every snack you buy should be 150 calories or less, or else you’re overeating between meals. Secondly, your snacks need to focus on protein and fiber. These are the things that fill you up and satiate you. If you eat a snack loaded with sugars and simple carbs, like a Pop Tart, you’ll be hungry again before your next meal.

Beachbody does an excellent job of overdelivering when they bring supplement products to market. The leadership team never sacrifices quality. Therefore, I’m not surprised that these snacks contain with a whopping 10 grams of protein.
Next, each bar has 14 grams of carbohydrates. A good rule of thumb is that you need at least 1 gram of fiber per every 10 grams of carbohydrates. We talk about more rules in our article on decoding nutrition labels.
How do the BEACHBARs by Beachbody perform? They have 4 grams each of dietary fiber! That’s significant. It’s about 1/3 of the daily fiber the average American receives. And, hint, it’s not nearly enough! Our cavemen ancestors ate around 150 grams of fiber daily! They must have had great poop health.
Finally, the last big question is, how are the sugar levels? Companies are known to make healthy foods taste better by adding sugar. In BEACHBARs, there are 5-6 grams of sugar each (with the Chocolate Cherry Almond being slightly sweeter.)
So far, so good. Now, how does it compare to all of those Larabars that Ryan and I ate every day for a year?

After confirming that the product meets our nutrition profile needs, we compare the nutrient value to other products on the shelf. That’s right. We don’t just compare price. Instead, we evaluate the cost versus nutrient value.
For example, let’s look at granola:
One bag is $3.95, and it has 3 grams of protein, 21 grams of carbs, 2 grams of fiber, and 9 grams of sugar.
Another equally sized bag is $5.25, and it has 6 grams of protein, 27 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of sugar.
We would buy the bag for $5.25 every time since we are getting more nutrient value for our money. So, how does the Beachbody BEACHBAR stack up to other snack bars on the shelf?
Calorie for calorie, the BEACHBARs by Beachbody have the best nutrient value compared to other leading health, snack bars. And, no surprise here, the cost a little bit higher than Larabars.
But it’s worth it because to feel satiated like I do when I eat a BEACHBAR, I would need to eat at least 2 Larabars. So now the money I saved is gone, and I am 30-minutes away from having a mid-afternoon sugar crash. No bueno.
Seventy percent of adults grab for snacks at least twice a day, why not make one of the healthy and satiating at the same time? For us, BEACHBARs taste like a dessert and reduces snacking on more harmful foods for our diets and nutrition! They also reduce decision fatigue.
